Promozebra Bring Group Buying to Ireland
I mentioned before about the possibility of the group buying model working in Ireland and it looks like one has just popped up. Similar to Groupon, which is hugely popular as Pat Phelan points out.
Promozebra are a German based company who’ve just begun operating in Ireland. The model is pretty simple, a special offer/deal of the day is offered based on a minimum buy in- If enough people go for the deal, they can buy a voucher online (through PayPal), the business get guaranteed bookings and the customer gets a sweet deal.
I had a chat with Cooper Corvin who is overseeing things here on why they’ve opened up to the Irish market:
Our business approach is an international one and not local like so many of our competitors. We see Ireland as a growing market for group buying portals like ours. Its a perfect environment to provide our business partners with an easy, fun, and unique marketing opportunity to gain lifelong customers. Dublin is full of tech-savvy people who are open to trying new goods and services! It was an obvious choice.
As they’ve only recently rolled out to Dublin, the plans are to add in other Irish cities with the goal of providing exciting deals every day. Things are moving pretty quickly for Promozebra and they’ve had a growth of 500% for last month alone. As with any group buyingwebsite, it’s massively important to connect the right deals to the target audience.
The current offer is at Canters restaurant with a three course meal on their Thursday jazz nights. Restaurants have been pretty adaptive to the recession and have the ability to create a discounted menu quickly, in my experience with discounted deals in Ireland, it can be difficult to get suppliers on board with an actual discounted deal – as they prefer to discount off inflated prices. Best of luck to Promozebra as I genuinely think that the group buying model will work in Ireland (if the deals are right!)
