A new website launched this week across the water, Britain Thinks is an independent space where the opinions of the British public can be publicly expressed, apparently.

Anyways, a massive outdoor advertising campaign has kicked off this week with ads like the one below to drive people to the website.

The part that caught my eye was that it’s a £1.25m campaign to promote the power of outdoor advertising.

The campaign hopes to demonstrate the power of outdoor advertising as a direct response medium with the ability to drive people online, according to Alan James, the chief executive of the OAA.The campaign hopes to demonstrate the power of outdoor advertising as a direct response medium with the ability to drive people online, according to Alan James, the chief executive of the OAA.

£1.25m is a serious chunk of cash for a 2 week burst, I’m not sure what other activity is happening for Britain Thinks, but is this the best way to promote a website? The jury will be out – but hitwise stats should show what kind of impact it has had.

Already, Google is already indexing 164,000 results for “Career women make bad mothers” in the past week with sites like guardian.co.uk, as well as blogs, forums and tweets showing up. Maybe there is a little strategy to this after all. This will be one to keep an eye on hitwise stats over next few weeks.
